12/03/14 - Memory Bridge Training Retreat and Scholarship Announcement
For a third year we are pleased to announce the Memory Bridge Training Retreat and Scholarship!
The 2015 training will be held June 19 – 24th at the beautiful and contemplative Tibetan Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center in Bloomington, Indiana.
Memory Bridge is again seeking 12 gifted individuals from across the world to help us grow the Memory Bridge Initiative. The selected participants will receive full scholarships for the 5-day Memory Bridge Training Retreat. (The Retreat will be limited to those 12 participants, on a scholarship basis only.) All expenses except travel will be paid.
We are seeking applicants who share our dedication to ending the social isolation of people with dementia through learning how to be with them in emotionally and spiritually sustaining ways. Applications are open to care providers, therapists who work with people with dementia, administrators, and service providers whose field of service enriches the life experiences of people with dementia. Middle and high school teachers who would like to bridge the Memory Bridge experience to their students are also invited to apply.
The design of the retreat is based on Memory Bridge’s I Am A Bridge Dementia Immersion Training, an experience-centered learning model that positions people with dementia in the roles of teacher, guide, and companion.
The training retreat is co-sponsored by Indiana University’s Center on Aging and Community at the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community. Details about the Training Retreat and scholarship application will soon be posted on the Memory Bridge website at www.MemoryBridge.org.
If you would prefer not to wait for the application’s posting, you may request a PDF file of the 2015 application by emailing Jane Harlan-Simmons at email@example.com.
The deadline for receipt of the first phase of the application is February 5, 2015.
