Hattie just turned 100, making her one of the oldest Memory Bridge buddies. She needs to go shopping. Her mother sends her to the store because she says Hattie has more sense, and buys things that are on sale. The other night she was drawing in her room and her father came in. He told her she was too old to be sitting there coloring when there’s work to be done, and she should go wash the dishes. But after she washed them he came and got her again because the table wasn’t cleared. That makes Hattie mad! Her little sisters don’t have to work as hard as she does! But sometimes her mom sneaks her a treat. She needs to go to the store for her mother. She needs milk and bananas and eggs and one other thing… potatoes. That’s it, potatoes.
